Dj Theo Bio

Published on April 7th, 2013

NEW YORK, NY – A decade’s expertise as a radio jock on WDRE/New York and recently having his weekly mixshow on Sirius/XM’s Electric Area has paid off catching the attention of Nervous Records, where a string of top-selling compilations followed fusing the international side of house vocals with tougher twisted beats. This year seeing his studio credits as a skilled remixer and a tight stable of original artist tunes. Over a decade year residency and creator of the Hamptons’ longest running all-day beach house party at Neptune Beach Club. A record deal with seminal house music label, Nervous Records. It’s seems as THEO is in the beginning of becoming a well-rounded artist.

His fifth installment on Nervous Records’: Nervous Nitelife series of mixed compilations. with ″School Of House” which was released a little over a year ago. In, June 2010 THEO became the first Nervous artist to reach the Top Ten on Itunes Dance Albums chart. This past year THEO has been working on several original tracks and collaborations, the old adage of hard work and perseverance bearing fruit has been proven right, once again, in THEO’s life. At the height of his powers as a club DJ, radio personality and dance music producer, THEO’s never been more relevant to the world of electronic dance music and the clubbing landscape he helped craft in the states.

THEO (real name: THEO PISANI) currently had a weekly dance mixshow on Sirius/XM Radio’s Electric Area channel with his All Love From NY radio show. While still on terrestrial radio with mixshows on Party FM (WDRE, New York). His current position as one of dance music’s most influential tastemakers was not attained overnight, but rather earned over the course of years working as program director and mixshow coordinator on college radio stations at Bryant College (Rhode Island), Brooklyn College (Brooklyn, NY), and Stony Brook University (Long Island, NY). Not long after college, THEO would score commercial radio gigs working at WLIR, WBLI and WXXP (which later became WDRE/Party 105), mixing on live broadcasts. At WXXP, THEO was hired by VIC LATINO as mixshow coordinator and eventually was named music director. (WDRE is a BDS-monitored station also broadcasting into Nassau County on 101.5FM.)

Throughout THEO’s years on radio, he played steady club gigs and built a much envied following on his home turf of Long Island and throughout the New York tri-state area. THEO’s advice to aspiring deejays is, “Get a residency at any club and build your crowd. That’s the only way to create a following.” THEO’s previous compilation releases include editions 1 to 4 of his Nervous Nitelife: Summer Clubbing series for Nervous Records, School Of House up until early 2012, respectively, and NYC Mixx for UBL Music in 2006.

In the media, THEO has appeared in a variety of print and online outlets, including: DJ Times, Remix, Club World, Musico Pro, Accent On Tampa Bay, Jive, The Southampton Press, The East Hampton Independent, The Miami New-Times, The Las Vegas Weekly, Las Vegas Citylife, Holmdel Happenings, Raves.com, Clubplanet.com, and many others. THEO has shared the bill with international superstars like TIËSTO and DAVID GUETTA , has been invited to open up for STING and was selected twice to play for the NY portion of MOBY’s Area:One and Area:Two tours. As of summer 2010, THEO has been seen ands heard deejaying regularly at the country’s finest nightclubs, including: Pacha (Ibiza & New York), Cielo (New York), Elevate (CT), Harrah’s Pool (Atlantic City), Neptune Beach Club (Hamptons, NY), Rise (Boston), Therapy (RI), Water Taxi Beach (Long Island City, NY), Emporium (LI,NY) and Flynn’s (Fire Island, NY) among other venues. While overseas with parties at Pacha (Ibiza) and Cafe Mambo (Ibiza).

For the sixth year-in-a-row, THEO has been nominated by DJ Times Magazine as among “America’s Best DJ,” a fan-powered poll that has seen THEO consistently ranking in the top tier. The past few years he’s finished Top 25 in ABDJ’s competition. Also, this past year marked a new progression for THEO with the formation of his new group TAG Sounds United, with production partner Gabe Ramos. Together they have also started Dinotech Records, a techno/tech house/minimal based label. THEO says “we both found we were unable to get to a lot of releases we produce and music like that in our respective dj sets. We were in this Minimal Tribal state of production and were expected to perform a certain way in our respective shows. We chose to respect the other genres, create a group and produce and deejay a certain way when performing as that other moniker. The label side was this desire to help out other producers and artists like ourselves that are looking for some marketing and direction from a label and/or how to get music to other labels around the world. We both think we can offer artists a home and community which isn’t really prevalent at many labels today, while approaching the genre with a more creative way of marketing. “As for product endorsement TAG Sounds United use Pioneer gear, Native Instruments gear and programs with some outside peripherals. THEO is also sponsored by Pioneer and endorsed by Red Bull. As for 2013, THEO believes it will be a “very exciting and creative year for me and the people I surround myself with.”Theo

Camp Bisco 2013 Preview

Published on March 18th, 2013

Dates: July 11th – 13th 2013
Location: Just outside of Albany, NY. (Indian Lookout Country Club – Mariaville, NY)
Price: $210

This year, Camp Bisco has an eclectic lineup consisting of acts like STS9, Wolfgang Gartner, UZ, Dan Deacon, Toro y Moi, and Umphrey’s McGee. It’s clear to see that this festival attracts an assortment of music lovers, and both the jammers to the wobblers (WOB-WOB-WOB) are expected to go home more than satisfied. Hopes are high after last year’s insane performances by BassnectarDada Life, Atmosphere, Bonobo, and Big Gigantic. Will Camp Bisco live up to the name they have established in their 12 years of existence? Of course they will. Chances are, they will go bigger and harder than ever before, and you will probably leave without one pair of matching shoes.

There’s more than music at Camp Bisco though. The community is full of people who are PROUD to say that they have been going to bisco for the past some-odd years. This says a lot about a festival goer. Sincere there are so many options for festivals out there, each with different themes and attractions, for someone to choose Camp Bisco year after year just tells you that it has a value that is not, and can not be diminished by the economy, competition, or weather. Also, you can expect to see beautiful art installations, goods for sale, and label tents.

This festival is sure to blow your face off, ans I assure you, the party does not stop when the music does. Want to volunteer? Follow this link. See you there!

Camp Bisco is held July 11th – 13th 2013 Indian Lookout Country Club – Mariaville, NY.

Towson University Harlem Shake

Published on February 24th, 2013

The Towson University Harlem Shake was a huge success. Within one week Towson`s own Dominic Pedri planned this huge event to be ran on the middle of campus. He went to the head of Towson Police Dept. for permission and they were a little skeptical. After all we were able to run the event and it turned out to be huge with film support from the EMF dept. at Towson such as Glory Kim and Christian Groeschel who did a great job putting this video together. Ryan Greenberg the owner MusicOverSleep.com made an appearance as a DJ/Tele Tubby. Hope everyone Enjoys

Dj Hydra

Published on February 22nd, 2013

Hydra is an up and coming EDM producer from my hometown of Livingston, NJ. His style is a combination of progressive house with heavy influence from hardstyle and hardcore/heavy metal rock. Having a background in playing guitar at a younger age and being in various bands, Hydra draws his influences from rock roots to bring a heavy, arena filling sound that is guaranteed to get a crowd hyped. He also has a series of mixes called Enjoy The Beats that can be found on both his Youtube and Mixcloud channels as well. Check out these three tracks by him…
